Aims
Participants will,

Understand challenging experiences, ideas, activities, behaviours, or illnesses, and the potential impact they can have on physical, emotional, relational, and lifestyle health, and how they can lead to mental health issues,

Understand mental health issues, and the potential impact they can have on physical, emotional, relational, and lifestyle health (Truth)

Hear an empathetic explanation of the physical, emotional, relational, and lifestyle impact of challenging experiences and mental health issues, understand the value and challenges of empathy, and learn appropriate and safe ways in which they can demonstrate compassion, (Empathy)

Know the common and possible responses to challenging experiences and mental health issues, learn, and when possible, practice, the process of reasoning the pros and cons of those options, and understand which ones are more likely to reduce harm, improve quality of life, and/or lead to recovery, (Reason)

Know that they are worth fighting for, that there is hope for them, things that they can do to prevent, reduce the harm, and/or recover from challenging experience and mental health issues, and know that there is help available, where it is, and how to access it. (Encouragement)

Each Lesson plan comes with a parent’s quiz and conversation starter sheet, which we recommend is provided to the parents before the lesson, so they have time to prepare for discussing the subject matter with their child, and to prevent children from forgetting, or choosing not to show their parents.
